Assessment Resources
Below are select resources that provide guidance for good assessment work and informs practice.
Assessment Templates
A template is provided to be filled out every assessment cycle. The template is meant to guide you through the assessment process and ensure alignment between student learning outcomes (SLOs) and how they are assessed. Below are the current assessment report templates:
-
2025-2026 Academic Program Assessment Report Template
OR - 2025-2026 General Education Assessment Report Template
For an explanation of each section with the assessment report templates, please refer to the Assessment Template Guide.
Glossary of Terms
The glossary of terms provides definitions and explanations of terminology used in assessment and the Assessment Report Template.
Curriculum Map
Curriculum maps show where within a curriculum student learning outcomes (SLOs) are introduced, reinforced, mastered, and assessed. A curriculum map can be used to ensure alignment exists between the expected student learning learning outcomes (SLOs) and what is taught in a curriculum.
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) are statements indicating what students should know, think, or do as a result of participating in an academic degree program. SLOs are designed to specify skills, knowledge, behaviors, and beliefs that graduates of the program will know and be able to do as a result of completing their degree program.

How To Measure Outcomes
To determine if the Student Learning Outcomes is attained, a set of measurements and criteria must be identified. These measurements include instruments, assignments, projects, and any other observable activity which can be used to gauge the extent to which the learning was attained. Each SLO must include at least one direct measure. The measure matches the outcome, uses appropriate direct and indirect methods, indicates desired level of performance, helps identify what to improve, and is based on tested, known methods.

How to Respond to Assessment Data
Responding to the assessment data and analysis with a plan to improve student learning and the assessment plan/process in your program will help ensure your program is accurately meeting its Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) in a way that is effective for the students.
VALUE Rubrics
VALUE Rubrics are open educational resources that enable educators to assess students' original work. The below VALUE Rubrics are provided by The American Association of Colleges and Universities (AACU).
