Student Achievement

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette recognizes the importance of identifying, evaluating, and publishing goals and outcomes related to student achievement. Student success is recorded and documented in a variety of formats for different metrics.

Below are tables with retention and graduation rates for first-time, full-time degree-seeking freshmen who enrolled in the fall or prior summer semester at UL Lafayette. The figures presented below display the number and percent of students who were retained and graduated at UL Lafayette as a whole.

Six-year graduation rate of full-time, degree-seeking first-time freshmen

UL Lafayette goal: Increase the six-year graduation rate (defined as a student completing an award within 150% of “normal time” at UL Lafayette) from the baseline rate (Fall 2017 cohort) of 51.93% to 54.98% by Academic Year 2028-2029 (Fall 2022 cohort).

Same institution graduation rate (IPEDS)

Students who enter the University of Louisiana at Lafayette as part of the cohort and complete their degree from the University within six years.

Retention of full-time, degree-seeking first-time freshmen

First fall to second fall

UL Lafayette goal: Increase the percentage of first-time in college, full-time, degree-seeking students retained to the second Fall at the same institution of initial enrollment by 6.00 percentage points from the Fall 2023 cohort (to Fall 2024) baseline level of 74.0% to 80.0% by Fall 2029 (retention of Fall 2028 cohort).

First fall to third fall

UL Lafayette goal: Increase the percentage of first-time in college, full-time, degree-seeking students retained to the third Fall at the same institution of initial enrollment by 4.9 percentage points from the Fall 2022 cohort (to Fall 2024) baseline level of 63.1% to 68.0% by Fall 2029 (retention of Fall 2027 cohort).
